Who We Are
We are people for whom coffee is more than just a drink. Each of us has extensive experience in making coffee and handling coffee machines. But each of us came to this in different ways: one through the repair of coffee makers, one from the world of baristas, and one from a love of experimenting with his espresso machine at home.
What We Do
MyFriendsCoffee helps people get to know the coffee world. We give you interesting and useful information to make the coffee preparation process simple and enjoyable.
We help you choose coffee by discussing the advantages, disadvantages, and features of each product. At the end of each article, there is a buying guide so you can easily and quickly make your choice.
We also share the best recipes, guides, historical information, coffee tips, and coffee statistics. If you do not find what you are looking for, you can write to us. We will answer you, and if your question is frequently asked, we will write an article about it.
We know where we are going. We are continually developing our blog, and in the future, new sections will appear and more questions will be covered. You can make your suggestions for improving the project or even join our team.
How We Do It
To make quality content, you need to put yourself in the place of the reader. Each team member knows this. Therefore, we try to create articles that will be understandable to anyone, from a novice coffee lover to a professional barista.
But there will be no quality content without a deep analysis of the topic. Before starting to write, we examine the product from all sides and conduct tests or tastings when it comes to coffee. You can read the full discussion of this process in the How We Review section.
We are not influenced by money. All our reviews are independent. We take into account the opinions of other people. We are also always open to advise or criticism from our readers. You help us to become better.
The MyFriendsCoffee Team
The MyFriendsCoffee team consists of trained people with experience in the coffee industry, and experts in coffee equipment and brewing methods who like coffee more than any other drink. You can meet our team below.
Emma Robbins – Writer & Editor
Hey! I’m Emma!
I fell in love with coffee two years ago when I drank my first cappuccino. Last year, I worked as a barista in a small Seattle bakery and learned how to make all my favorite espresso-based drinks. The best part of the job was whipping up the perfect cappuccino foam, though I never quite got the hang of latte art.
Now I work as a freelance writer and editor, and have been very lucky to work with MyFriendsCoffee for the past eight months. As I’ve written and edited articles for this site, I’ve been able to apply my knowledge of espresso, and I’ve learned more about coffee than I ever thought I would.
You can find me on LinkedIn and Facebook.
Dan Hunnewell - Writer & Consultant
Dan has been addicted to coffee for many years. In 2018, he and his brother Nick decided to pursue their dream of starting a coffee company. They enrolled in a coffee-roasting course in San Francisco and learned the craft from renowned experts in the industry.
Over the course of eight months, they honed their skills, tasted hundreds of coffees from various suppliers, and worked on potential proposals. They chose suppliers and importers who took coffee seriously.
Dan and Nick are very focused on the freshness of coffee. They’ve selected partners who are attentive to the coffee at every stage of production and pay particular attention to how coffee is delivered to their roaster.
Coffee Bros. launched in 2019. Dan and Nick’s experience and commitment to quality have been invaluable. The company quickly gained popularity and a large number of positive reviews. Now Dan and Nick continue to develop their company, and they have big plans to keep improving it.
Dan started working with the MyFriendsCoffee team in 2020. His experience in roasting coffee beans and identifying the best varieties and blends is priceless. We know that his contributions make our content better and more useful.
John Beans – Resident Editor-in-Chief
I’m the resident Editor-in-Chief of MyFriendsCoffee. Before, I never thought about different types of coffee, about different tastes, or about how coffee can affect the body. I just drank coffee from a vending machine in the office or ordered it at coffee shops. But something changed after my friends gave me a coffee machine.
I felt comfortable making coffee at home, and I began to experiment. I opened recipes on the Internet, treated my friends, and realized that the coffee world includes much more than just black coffee in the morning.
For 5 years I tried a large variety of coffees from different brands,. I have tried more than 24 ways to brew coffee and am not going to stop there. I switched my first coffee maker with a professional espresso machine and now my kitchen is filled with various coffee equipment.
This blog is for anyone who deals with coffee. It doesn’t matter if you are a professional barista or just an amateur. I will try to help everyone with a choice of coffee or an espresso machine, or just give advice on brewing. Even if you do not find what you need, you can always contact me.
Tessa Dixon – Barista & Content Creator
How did it happen that I decided to become a barista? This is probably because I am from Seattle, Washington. There are 23 Starbucks per 100,000 people in the city, as well as numerous other coffee shops. The city has a heavy coffee consumption culture, and it divides people into two categories. You either become indifferent to this drink and drink it like water or fall in love with it and it becomes part of your life.
I am from the second category of people.
My career began a year ago in Starbucks on Pine Street, near Westlake Park. There were difficult moments in the beginning, but now I feel more confident. During this time I learned how to make coffee correctly, and I began to better understand which roast is suitable for a particular drink. I tried coffee from different suppliers and I have a list of those that I would like to give to people, and those I would not.
How did I end up at MyFriendsCoffee?
Everything is very simple. I was looking for a way to apply my skills and make some money in my free time. I wrote to different sites, but after two days of correspondence with John Beans, we decided that we understood each other well.
